Amazon Devices is strengthening its electro-mechanical supply chain in China. We are hiring a Senior Supplier Quality Manager (Sr. SQM) to take end-to-end ownership of quality for the embodied robot commodities — including actuator, connector/harness, mechanical parts (vacuum casting, 3D printing, CNN and plastic injection), battery and electronics/PCBA — across a supplier base spanning Mainland China, Taiwan region, and Southeast Asia, supporting device final assembly lines.
This role focuses on four core areas of work:
1). New Product Introduction (NPI) & Supplier Qualification
• Lead new supplier qualification audits and on-site capability assessments (process, capacity, quality systems) across CNC machining, injection molding, vacuum casting, 3D printing, PCBA, cables, batteries, and actuators.
• Evaluate supplier readiness for volume ramp — quality controls, inspection methods, and process capability at increasing volumes
• Drive PPAP management and validate process capability (Cpk/Ppk), high-speed signal integrity, and reliability testing — owning every quality gate before next milestone
• Provide on-the-ground quality support during EVT, DVT, and production builds (readiness checks, in-line monitoring, shipment sign-off)
2). Quality Management & Process Control
• Define the supplier quality framework — assessment criteria, FAI requirements, process control expectations, nonconformance procedures, and corrective action standards
• Establish inspection standards and acceptance criteria per part family (cosmetic standards, dimensional tolerances, material specs, functional test requirements)
• Review and validate supplier process controls — SPC, Cpk, control plans, FMEA, poka-yoke — ensuring adequacy for production volumes
• Verify supplier traceability systems, material certifications, and lot-level documentation
• Manage supplier 5M1E changes, ECN/PCN quality-impact assessments (especially raw-material substitution), and change management for material, process, tooling, or sub-tier changes
3). Nonconformance Resolution & Crisis Response
• Lead supplier nonconformance investigations — drive root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) ensuring corrective actions address true root cause, not just containment
• Manage containment actions (sorting, 100% inspection, hold/release decisions) to protect production while root cause is resolved
• Respond rapidly to line-down events, ship-holds, and customer field issues — driving containment, RCA, and 8D closure, including complex non-reproducible, multi-factor defect escapes
4). Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment
• Partner with FATP / IQC teams, US headquarters Hardware R&D, Sourcing, Reliability, etc.
• Drive bidirectional optimization between design and process
• Establish IQC standards, SCAR routing, and escalation paths
• Align inspection methods and acceptance criteria across suppliers and internal teams to ensure consistency from incoming quality through final assembly - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree
- • 8+ years in design, quality management, process engineering or a related role in mechanical molding parts, actuator/motor, connector/harness, PCB/PCBA or battery.
- • 8+ years hands-on experience with CNC machining, injection molding, stamping, plating, 3D print, vacuum casting, SMT or final assembly.
- • Hands-on experience with 8D, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA (including GR&R).
- • Business-effective English and fluent Mandarin.
- • Hands-on use of AI tools with ability to validate output reliability.
