Do you obsess over developer experience? Do you lose sleep over unnecessary friction, confusing defaults, and onboarding flows that take too many clicks? Are you excited about helping developers go from zero to shipped with AI agents, not in weeks, but in minutes? If so, this might be your dream job.
We are seeking an experienced Head of Developer Enablement for Kiro to own the end-to-end developer experience, from first install to production deployment. You will ensure every developer who touches Kiro can self-serve their way to value without friction, whether they’re launching their first agent or scaling complex multi-agent workflows.
This role sits at the intersection of developer experience, documentation, product-led growth, and developer tooling. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Support, and Marketing to reduce time-to-value, improve self-serve success rates, and turn developer friction into product improvements, ultimately driving activation, retention, and expansion of Kiro.
Please note, we place significant value on candidates who have built developer tools, documentation systems, or enablement programs that demonstrably improved developer outcomes at scale. An existing public presence in the developer community is beneficial but not required. What matters most is your track record of making developers successful, fast.
Key job responsibilities
Developer Experience & Onboarding
• Own the developer journey from install to first successful agent run to production deployment, and ruthlessly eliminate friction at every step.
• Design and optimize onboarding flows, quickstarts, starter templates, and in-product contextual guidance that get developers to value in minutes, not hours.
• Build and maintain reference architectures, sample applications, and reusable project templates.
Documentation & Self-Serve Tooling
• Own the quality, discoverability, and accuracy of all developer-facing documentation including API references, CLI guides, configuration docs, and troubleshooting playbooks.
• Ensure docs are always current with product releases through tight engineering partnerships and automated workflows.
• Build and improve developer-facing tooling (CLIs, scaffolding tools, project generators) that reduce manual steps.
Friction Measurement & Developer Feedback Loops
• Systematically identify and quantify developer friction through instrumentation, friction logs, support ticket analysis, and direct developer engagement.
• Own the feedback loop from developers back to Product and Engineering. Prioritize and advocate for DX improvements that move activation and retention metrics.
• Use telemetry, funnel analysis, and qualitative signals to measure self-serve success rates and pinpoint drop-off points.
Activation & Growth
• Drive measurable improvements in developer activation (time to first deploy, first successful agent run, first production workflow).
• Partner with Growth and Marketing to optimize product-led growth loops that convert trial developers into active users.
• Instrument and track developer success metrics; own the enablement KPI dashboard.
What Success Looks Like (Key Outcomes)
• Measurable reduction in time-to-first-value and increase in self-serve activation rates.
• Developers can go from install to a working agent-powered project without opening a support ticket or watching a tutorial.
• Friction logs and developer feedback directly inform product roadmap priorities, with visible product improvements shipped as a result.
• Documentation and quickstarts that developers rate as "best-in-class" and actively recommend to peers.

The Kiro team is building the future of software development.
We believe coding is quickly evolving to spec-driven, agent-powered collaboration where developers orchestrate intelligent systems that design, implement, test, secure, and operate software alongside them. Kiro is our next-generation agentic development system: a suite of AI agents and experiences that work across IDE, CLI, Web, and other environments to function as true engineering teammates.
We are inventing new interaction models for developers including multi-agent workflows, persistent team learnings, long-running autonomous tasks, and deeply integrated cloud skills. This is not an incremental evolution of code completion. This is a re-definition of how software gets built. Come join us on this mission! - Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields, or experience in software development
- 10+ years of experience in developer education, developer experience, developer relations, technical content leadership, or related roles.
- Deep technical fluency — you understand developer workflows, can read/write code, and can explain technical concepts clearly.
- Proven success creating structured learning paths and educational content that measurably improve user outcomes.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, engineering, support, and community teams.
- Experience with AI-assisted or intelligent developer tools, and familiarity with how developers adopt new paradigms.
