We’re building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not.
To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.
NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.
If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all.
About the Team:
The HR team builds the programs, systems, and employee experiences that let 1X scale while holding a high bar for operational excellence. We partner across the organization so employees and managers have the support, tools, and processes they need as we grow our engineering, manufacturing, and business operations.
Your Charter:
As a People Operations Specialist, you’ll work across the systems, data, and processes behind 1X’s employee lifecycle, including our HRIS, time off, payroll-impacting changes, and onboarding and offboarding. You’ll keep core operations running accurately every day while improving and automating them so they scale with the company.
We’re building our foundation, and we don’t work in rigid lanes. Whoever is best placed to move something forward does it. You’ll be trusted to step in wherever the team needs you, figure out the right approach, and run with it without waiting for a playbook.
Key Outcomes:
Keep Rippling accurate and audit-ready as the source of truth for employee data, including records, workflows, permissions, and reporting.
Run time off administration, including policy configuration in Rippling, accruals, California sick leave compliance, and reconciliation with Payroll.
Process payroll-impacting changes (new hires, compensation changes, transfers, leaves, and terminations) accurately and before cutoff, in close partnership with Payroll and Finance.
Keep onboarding and offboarding running smoothly, with reliable coordination across HR, IT, Finance, Payroll, and hiring managers.
Find and implement automation through Rippling workflows, integrations, and AI tools that removes manual work, and document what you build.
Keep compliance and reporting data accurate and on time, including I-9 administration, wage and hour records, EEO-1, California Pay Data Reporting, and ACA.
Process leaves of absence and benefits changes so systems, payroll, and employee communications stay in sync.
Step in across any part of People Operations where the team needs coverage, regardless of who usually handles it, and drive the work to completion.
Key Competencies:
Team-first operator who picks up whatever needs doing, regardless of whose name is on it, and drives it to done without close direction.
Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with shifting priorities and moving between very different kinds of work in the same week.
Systems thinker who understands how HRIS, payroll, benefits, and IT tools connect, and designs processes that hold up as headcount grows.
Rigorous about data, with a strong instinct for reconciliation, controls, and catching errors upstream.
Process builder who documents clearly, improves what’s manual, and helps managers and peers get things right the first time.
Handles sensitive employee information and transitions with discretion, judgment, and care.
Minimum Requirements:
4–7 years in People Operations, HR Operations, or HRIS roles, with hands-on experience across employee lifecycle processes and systems.
HRIS administration experience, including workflow configuration, permissions, custom reporting, and data integrity. Rippling experience is strongly preferred.
Direct experience administering time off and payroll-impacting processes, with working knowledge of California wage and hour, sick leave, and final pay requirements.
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivots, and reconciling data across systems and trackers.
A track record in a fast-growing or early-stage environment where you built or rebuilt HR processes or systems from scratch, not just maintained existing ones.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Rippling’s Custom Integration Platform (CIP) or similar integration and automation tools.
Experience supporting hourly, non-exempt workforces in manufacturing or operations environments.
Multi-state People Operations experience.
Experience with EEO-1, California Pay Data, ACA, and 401(k) reporting.
Experience with Tilt, Ashby, or similar HR technology platforms.
Experience using Claude or other AI tools to automate or improve recurring HR processes.
